The cabin was a decent size and sometimes I like an afternoon nap. I don’t normally pay to go to speciality restaurants on cruises because I prefer to eat the food that’s included in the cruise fare. The customer services people called ‘sailor services’ did book the restaurants for me in the end and I’m glad I preserved because a lot of the restaurants were fully booked by the time we got onboard.

In my opinion Virgin should be advertising their food as one of their main selling points, that and the crew. Virgin have reduced their prices a lot since they originally launched. It is assumed on a Virgin cruise that you’ll use your phone for most things but paper menus are available if you don’t have a phone that you can use. We found that the menus on the phones always worked well and I’d usually looked at the menu before I even got to dinner. Theres also a running track which goes around the top of the ship, the running track is out of the way of the people walking below which I think is great.

Instead of ordering at the counter, you find a seat, flag down a waiter and put in your order, which will be brought to you when ready. Perhaps if the app were more intuitive, some of these issues could be mitigated. But I, who have successfully employed numerous cruise ship apps, had to ask a crew member to show me where to find deck plans in the Sailor App. In-app room service ordering was glitchy, but my cabin attendant hadn't left me a printout of the menu, so I never tried in-room dining. I prefer specialty restaurants with their individual menus, decor and vibe. But I also hate paying extra for meals when food is already included.

At first I totally thought that this was some gimmick but after climbing in it to take a photo I realised how comfortable it was. If the weather was good you could easily spend an hour or two swinging in the hammock. We were only in the cabin for a weekend and it was totally fine for that but any longer and I think I’d really miss having a drawer for all my chargers and drawers for things like t-shirts or socks. You could always bring packing cubes or maybe one of the hanging drawer things you can get, to make more space.
On the cabin's long wall, there was a cloth headboard and a narrow white platform with one thick armrest. This concept works well when you have time to kill or the venue is empty. But when The Galley is packed, such as in the morning on a port day, it can take forever to catch the attention of a server and longer than you'd expect to receive your meal.
Speaking of food pushers, the ship’s crew we interacted with throughout the cruise couldn’t have been more helpful, happy, and going out of their way to ensure we had a great vacation. Everyone we encountered was nice and ready to assist, from the cabin attendants to the shore things staff. While we waited in the terminal, music played, and MC worked on getting us excited to board and start our cruise vacation. It was unlike anything we had experienced before embarking on a cruise.
